Grok Bot: the AI agent businesses are signing up for faster than anything

It launched in August and passed 400,000 users in about a month. Here's what it is, what businesses use it for, what it costs, and what I've seen using it to run my own companies.

I've used a lot of AI tools. Most of them answer questions. Grok Bot does the work. I use it every day to run my businesses, and it's the first tool I can honestly describe as an employee that lives on my phone.

It's also catching on faster than almost anything I've seen. Here's a plain-English rundown of what's going on, with links to the reporting so you can read it yourself.

The numbers

Mid-Aug2026 launch
418,000users by September 14
24%weekly growth reported

According to a company presentation in London reported by Bloomberg, Grok Bot reached about 418,000 users by September 14, roughly a month after launch, and was growing around 24% a week (Cryptonomist, Yahoo Finance). One fair caveat: the company hasn't said exactly how it counts a "user," and those figures haven't been independently verified.

Elon Musk has called Grok Bot "the fastest-growing product he has ever seen."As reported by ChainCatcher, October 2026

So what is it?

Grok Bot is an AI agent from xAI. Instead of a chat window that gives you answers, you get bots that actually do tasks. Each one runs on its own cloud computer with a web browser, files and tools, so it can log into websites, fill things out, edit documents and keep working after you've closed your laptop (MindStudio).

You can set up several bots with different jobs, and even have a "chief of staff" bot that coordinates the others. You talk to them the way you'd talk to an employee. No code, no servers to set up.

What it plugs into

Grok Bot connects to the tools most businesses already run on, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Outlook mail and calendar, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and Salesforce. There are desktop apps for Mac and Windows plus a phone app (Vellum). When a website doesn't have a formal connection, the bot can use the browser and log in the same way a person would.

What businesses are using it for

xAI publishes dozens of ready-made jobs you can hand a bot (x.ai use cases). A few that matter to a small business:

In my own businesses it handles email, bookkeeping follow-ups, website updates and vendor quotes. I tell it what I need, out loud or by text, and it gets done.

What it costs

You don't need the $200 plan. I hear that a lot: "Isn't Grok Bot $200 a month?" It can be. Most people never need that. Here are the plans as xAI lists them today (x.ai pricing).

Plus$8/month

Good for: Trying AI chat, voice and images. Heads up: this one doesn't include Grok Bot.

Premium$30/month

Good for: Most owners. This is where Grok Bot starts, and where I'd start you.

Super$100/month

Good for: You use your bots every day and keep hitting the limit.

Ultra$200/month

Good for: Massive users running lots of bots all day long.

Start small, move up when you need more. Begin on Premium at $30, use it for a few weeks, and only upgrade if you keep running out. You can change plans any time. Paying yearly knocks a bit off too.

For most owners I work with, the time it saves covers the $30 many times over.

The catch

Setup is where most people quit. Connecting your accounts, deciding what each bot should do, and learning how to give it instructions it can act on takes some trial and error. People try it once, give it a vague request, get a vague result, and decide it's hype.

That's exactly why I offer a $299 Grok Bot setup: two Zoom sessions. In the first we get it installed, connected to your email and calendar, and working on a real task. In the second, a few days later, we fix what didn't work and build the routines that save you time. If you don't get $299 worth of value, I give you your money back.
